The Indian Business Chamber Luxembourg explores Opportunities in Indian Infrastructure.
Luxembourg 28th March, 2011
The Indian Business Chamber Luxembourg (IBCL) held an evening seminar at the offices of PwC in the Cloche d’Or on the topic “Opportunities in Infrastructure Investment in India and its Challenges”.
Mr Vijay Goel of Singhania & Co Solicitors and Indian Advocates, based in London identified a range of business sectors where infrastructure investment is ongoing.
He pointed that around 500 billion USD is still needed to implement the country’s 5-year infrastructure plan. Opportunities exist for international companies to participate in the infrastructure building, with the Indian government encouraging public-private partnerships. He also pointed out that there are various commercial and legal issues, including financing, that need to be taken into consideration before companies enter the Indian market. Interest rates are high in India.
