About
Roopal Bajaj is the leader of Investment Funds practice, and co-leader of Private Client and Transaction Tax practice of the firm. Roopal has extensive experience in Succession Planning, Corporate Restructuring, Buy-side/ Sell-side advisory on M&A deals, Fund Structuring and Tax Due Diligence. Roopal’s clientele includes distinguished promoter families, HNIs, Ultra HNIs, entrepreneurs of successful business ventures, investment houses, PE firms and C-suite executives. She was previously associated with Ernst & Young LLP (‘EY’) in the Transaction Tax practice.
Expertise and Skills:
- Estate planning - Conceptualization and preparation of Will(s), designing and implementing Indian and offshore trust structures.
- Holding structure advisory/ asset structuring - Designing alternative investment holding structures efficient from tax and regulatory perspective.
- Corporate structuring to meet objectives such as cash repatriation, investor introduction, legal entity rationalization, simplification of group structure etc.
- Structuring and setting up of AIFs – Angel Funds, VC Funds, Category II and III AIFs.
- Advising start-ups on various facets of funding, investor relations, CFO services etc.
- Personal tax advisory and regulatory compliances.
- Cross border tax and regulatory advisory involving inter-play between domestic and international laws.
Roopal’s rich experience and knowledge enables her to adopt holistic approach while providing solutions from a tax and regulatory perspective including Income Tax laws, SEBI guidelines, FEMA regulations, Companies Act, Stamp Duty, Indian Trust Act etc. Roopal also has deep expertise on structuring and setting up of Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) and regularly authors articles in business journals on her subject matter expertise.
